With the aspiration to revolutionize footwear ethically and put an end to subpar industrial products and feigned interest in sustainability or social responsibility, CARIUMA‘s co-founders David & Fernando from Brazil fulfilled this long-awaited dream in 2018 to build a company and brand that would better serve people and the planet.
United by their love for primarily board sports, they had a clear goal in mind: To positively and sustainably influence the lifestyle and action sports scene. Their mission, as a B-Corp certified company, to unite ethics and performance in footwear, is already bearing visible fruits: CARIUMA is establishing itself as a favored sneaker label in the segments Skate, Surf and Lifestyle.
CARIUMA makes vintage-inspired, classic sneakers that customers can wear through every season. In love with an old-school aesthetic as long as it’s made with new-school ethics. CARIUMA constantly sources & crafts greener innovations and develops new materials to create sneakers that are lightweight, durable and come with that perfect already broken-in fit.
As a company, CARIUMA does not shy away from lengthy and recurring innovation cycles to achieve optimal results. With social responsibility deeply embedded in CARIUMA’s DNA, the customer is guaranteed transparency through sustainable certifications and 100% traceability.
In production and packaging, the company pays careful attention to selecting environmentally friendly resources and materials, such as GOTS-certified organic cotton, natural rubber, sugarcane, bamboo, cork, vegan or LWG-certified leather, and recycled nylon, paper, and PET.
Brand collaborations with the likes of Pantone, Avatar, and National Geographic (261 million followers!) are partly responsible for that the label is on everyone’s lips right now.
The sustainable label is also making a big splash in the international press, being featured in magazines such as Forbes, Vogue, GQ, InStyle, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Glamour, or Oprah Daily as a ‘Game Changing Sneaker Brand’.

PLANTING TREES WITH SHOES
For every pair of CARIUMA shoes sold, two trees are planted in the Brazilian rainforest. To preserve biodiversity, CARIUMA has launched its own reforestation initiative, which is internally managed.
The label aims to appeal to responsible consumers and encourage them to make an individual contribution by choosing the right brand. The conscious commitment of the consumer to conscious fashion, moving away from fast fashion, is central to this.
